Ambar Servin
Ambar Servin (1981), examines themes as wide-ranging as the materials she uses; from self-identity, love and the body, to explorations of existentialism. At times humorous and playful, at times visceral and morbid, Servin´s works are characterised by a mixing of differing perspectives and techniques, challenging the viewer to look at the world anew and confront the fears and fantasies that lie beneath the surface of daily life. Servin uses the medium of performance in order to create a new reality within our day to day lives.

“¿PROSTITUCIÓN?” 2009, Nit de l´Art, Palma de Mallorca
Making reference to 12 of the most prestigious figures in contemporary art from Damien Hirst to Marina Abramoviç, the artist´s performance “¿PROSTITUCIÓN?” investigates the basic fact of many artists day to day reality – how to survive and move forward. By revealing the word prostitución in their names and making a final question at the end, the artist challenges the audience to spark off a debate about the art world.
While creating a dizzying diverse dialogue of confessional and melancholic veracity, “¿PROSTITUCIÓN?” subtly questions the boundaries between art and life. By use of an alter ego, the “Bambi,” Ambar Servin makes a statement of her position as a young emerging artists cutting a path for herself through the wild forest that is the art world.
